A Trip Down Memory Lane - The education that made it all happen

Before becoming a Mum I was obsessed with education - in fact I still am! There's so much to learn and so much more you can achieve by putting your mind to it and expanding your skills.
My love of art and fashion stemmed from the first course I enrolled on after finishing A'Levels, an Art & Design Foundation course at Ravensbourne College. It was here that I learned just how much I LOVED the student scene and my love for white wine...
I actually initially specialised in Interior Design within this course but after a prompt from my tutor realised that my real passion was for fashion so on completing this course I enrolled at London College of Fashion specialising in Surface Textiles and Fabric Manipulation.
I clearly like to do things the hard way because not long after enrolling on a BA Honours Fashion with Business degree I fell pregnant in my first year with our first son which forced me to take a year out. I desperately loved being a Mum but desperately hated not being in education so enrolled on a part time Pattern Making & Grading Diploma at Brighton University AND started a part time City & Guilds in Dress Making.
I remember there being a stage where I did wonder what on earth I was going to do after completing these courses, what job it would land me, what opportunities I would have but I didn't ever think it would be having my own business!

My first taste of pressure was when we got engaged and I decided to make my own wedding dress. It seemed like a great idea at the time but then I realised I had NO IDEA how to make a bodice!!! So of course, I popped myself into MacCays School of Design to learn about the art of corsetry enabling me to create my Victorian inspired wedding dress :) before going back to university to finish my degree.
Of course, as I said, I do like a good ol' challenge so with a toddler in tow I ventured into my final year and fell pregnant with my second son!!! Walking down the catwalk after my collection as a ball wasn't the look I was aiming for but it showed dedication! And then that was it and here I am, education is done and the journey of parenthood has taken over leaving me no time to grow my inquisitive mind... I'm pretty sure one day I will go back to it but until then there's worldwide domination to be had with Else Lollipop ;)
